It is a measurement done during lung function testing to assess the ability of the lungs to transfer gas from inspired air to the bloodstream. To reach the blood stream, gases in the lungs has to cross through multiple layers. Any disease affecting these layers leads to changes in the expected results and can cause shortness of breath.
At TruDoc Medical Pulmonary Function Laboratory we measure DLCO and monitor its level overtime. The test is noninvasive and takes about 15-20 minutes but provides tremendous information for your doctor.
